BANI: The seven days winter camp organised by National Service Scheme (NSS) Unit of Govt. Degree College Bani concluded here on Thursday.
On the concluding day the NSS volunteers led by Programme Officer, Prof. Shambu Dutt did socio-economic survey of adjoining villages. They took a brief review of their literacy, health, sanitation, hygiene and socio -economic conditions. They interacted with the inhabitants of the area and familiarised them about the harmful effects of drugs and the importance of education, sanitation and personal hygiene.
Later a valedictory function was organised on the campus, where volunteers narrated their experiences during week long camp. They also presented a cultural bonanza depicting the rich cultural heritage of the region.
Arun Singh of B.A. Part-I and Susheela of the same class were adjudged as the best male and female volunteers respectively. Dr. Naresh Kumar Gupta, Principal of the College was the Chief Guest on the occasion. He distributed certificates among NSS volunteers and lauded the successful accomplishment of the camp. Earlier, Prof. Shambu Dutt, NSS Programme Officer presented the report of NSS special camp.
Prominent among others present on the occasion were Prof. Firdous Ahmed, Prof. Sushma Rani , Prof. Manmohan, Prof. Meenakshi and Prof. Surjeet Kumar.
