KATRA: Dr. Swarkar Sharma,Assistant Professor and Coordinator Human Genetics Research Group at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University, Katra was invited as an expert at National Geographic Society Headquarters, Washington DC, USA to attend a meeting about Human Genographic Project. He was the only scientist from India in the brainstorming meeting, which was meant to discuss the future course of action for globally renowned Human Genographic Project. The project emphasises on understanding the evolutionary perspectives of modern humans worldwide and specifically deep in time ancestral migration history of human populations. Dr. Swarkar Sharma is a key researcher in the area and his research work primarily targets the population of Jammu and Kashmir, India. In his trip to USA (10th to 19th December 2016), he also visited various research groups at UT Southwestern Medical Center, Dallas, Texas USA and Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, New York, USA to seek future Indo-US collaborative research opportunities and projects.
