SMVDU celebrates International Yoga Day

KATRA: Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University, Katra, celebrated International Yoga Day (an initiative taken by the Prime Minister of India NarendraModi). Two events were organised on this occasion to include practice session of Yoga and an online essay competition on ‘Yoga: A Holistic Approach to Life’. In practice session, faculty and staff members, their family members and students participated. Various Asanas were practiced. Gurmel (who is PG Diploma in Yoga from Himanchal Pradesh University and was initially appointed in SMVDU as Yoga Instructor), Junior Assistant in the Security Office, was the instructor in the practice session. He guided the practitioners regarding various Asanas and Mudras. Regarding the second event, the last date for submission of essay is 30th June 2015. Ajay Khajuria, Registrar, SMVDU was also present for the practice session. The event was coordinated by Dr. Anil Kumar Tewari, Asst. Prof., School of Philosophy and Culture.
