Dear Editor,
Smriti Irani’s explosive speech has sent a right message about Rahul Gandhi’s visit to Hyderabad and his blind support for JNU students, an example of sheer opportunism. Irani is right in hitting out at the Opposition for trying to politicise the issue, as well as the attitude and behaviour of the Congress Party. No doubt, it is the duty of the Opposition to assess the ruling party but there should not be anything that amounts to challenging the sovereignty of the country. Interrupting the Houses and blocking Bills is not expected from a party which has ruled the country for most part of the post-Independence era but it’s a pity to see battle lines being drawn on the basis of ‘Mahishasura versus Durga’. There is absolutely no need for Smriti to apologise for bringing out facts with proof.
