SKUAST-J wins opening tie in VC Cup

JAMMU: Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology (SKUAST) Jammu made it a winning start when they beat Mahatma Phule Krishi Vidyapeeth (MPKV), Rahuri Pune by five wickets in the All India Vice Chancellor’s Twenty20 Cup Cricket Tournament.
As per the reports reaching here, MPKV Rahuri won the toss and batting first set a target of 80 runs for the loss of ten wickets. For SKUAST-J, Anoop, Manjeet and Nissar took wickets.
In reply, SKUAST-J chased the target in the 15th over for the loss of five wickets.
At one stage SKUAST-J were 35 for 5 in the 8th over thereby creating some anxious moments but the duo of Manjeet Singh and Parveen Kumar played with immense responsibility and achieved the target without losing any further wickets.
While Parveen played with caution and kept one end intact, Manjeet on the other hand played aggressively hitting some awesome shots in his innings of unbeaten 28 off 20 balls.
The SKUAST-J shall meet Shivaji University, Kolhapur in its second match on December 5, 2017.
The SKUAST-J is accompanying with Kewal K Raina (Coach), Hardeep Singh (Manager) and Neeraj Gupta (Assistant Coach).
