SKUAST-J Scientist conferred best Ph.D thesis award

JAMMU: Dr Akhil Verma, presently working as Assistant Professor in Agronomy Discipline at SKUAST-J, attended the International Conference held at Mahartana Pratap University of Agriculture & Technology (MPUAT), Udaipur (Rajasthan).
During the conference, Dr Verma presented research paper entitled ‘Assessment of the individual and sequential outcomes of different weed management practices on yield attributes, yield and system productivity of wheat and basmati rice crop sequence’.
He has been conferred with Best Ph.D Thesis Award by the Society for Scientific Development in Agriculture and Technology (SSDAT) for his quality research work carried out at (SKUAST-J) on research theme ‘Impact of Weed Management Approaches on the Performance of Wheat (Triticum aestivum L) and Direct Seeded Basmati Rice (Oryza sativa L) in Irrigated Plains of Jammu Subtropics under the prudent guidance of Prof B.C Sharma, Head, Division of Agronomy of SKUAST-Jammu.
The award was conferred to Dr Akhil Verma by Prof. U.S Sharma, Vice Chancellor MPUAT, Udaipur during the proceedings of international conference on Global Research Initiatives for Sustainable Agriculture and Allied Sciences (GRISAAS-2017) held at MPUAT between December 2 and 4, 2017.
The conferment of award adds to the prestige of SKUAST-Jammu for its high standards of teaching and research being carried out in the university. Dr Verma is also the recipient of Young Scientist Award by the Society for Scientific Development in Agriculture and Technology (SSDAT).
