SKUAST-J to hold two-day Kisan Mela from March 17

JAMMU: Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology (SKUAST) of Jammu is organizing a two days mega Kisan Mela from 17th to 18th March, 2017 at its Main Campus, Chatha.
The main theme of the Mela is “Integrated Farming: Profitable and Sustainable Farming”.
Major focus in the event will be on demonstration of the proven/advanced technologies aiming at improving agriculture productivity, profitability and sustainability.
While speaking to reporters Dr. K.S Risam, Director Extension informed that Kisan Mela will be inaugurated by N.N Vohra, Governor and Chancellor of SKUAST-Jammu. Ministers and Legislatures, dignitaries from ICAR and other State Agricultural Universities are also gracing the occasion, he said adding that many international and national companies dealing in agriculture and allied sectors will be displaying their latest technologies to the farming community in the Mela.
A Kisan Goshti will be conducted wherein scientists of excellence in their respective field from national institutes/SKUAST-J will be having a direct interface with the farmers, he said adding that lectures on various important theme will be delivered in the Goshti.
Dr. Vivak M. Arya, Assistant Professor and Dr. Raj Bharat Sangra were also present in the press conference.
