JAMMU: SKUAST-J flagged off farmers working in integrated farming system mode with the university for attending the Northern Regional Agricultural Fair ‘Krishi Kumbh 2016’ at Muzaffarnagar (UP) organized by ICAR-IIFSR, Modipuram.
The main theme of KRISHI KUMB is ‘Tikkau Kheti- Khushhaal Kisan’.
Speaking on the occasion Dr. Dilip Kachroo, Chief Scientist and Registrar informed the farmers that each farmer of the group associated with the university should adopt and establish the IFS model developed by the scientists of this university at their farms.
Dr. J.P Sharma, Director Research present on the occasion and enlightened the farmers that university is having a primary goal to work hand in globe with the farmers so that the technologies generated are to be adopted.
Dr. Sharma also emphasised that incorporation of optimum and profitable enterprises in farming practice are the need of the hour for achieving higher income from the unit land. Dr. Ashok Gupta, Senior Scientist and Incharge OFR programme highlighted the theme of the Krishi Kumbh 2016 and argued upon the farmers that there are lot of new technologies of farming system which are at display of the fair and farmers will get opportunities to adopt the modern technologies. Gulam Mohammad, J.K Baru, Dheeraj and A.W Katoch, Field Assistants were also present on the occasion.
