Six drug peddlers held in Srinagar

SRINAGAR: Continuing its drive against the drug menace, Jammu and Kashmir Police on Wednesday arrested five drug peddlers in separate incidents here.
Acting on specific information, Baramulla Police apprehended three notorious drug peddlers from village Pati Jathar, Chandoosa. They were identified as Abdul Hassan Sheikh, son of Abdul Gani Sheikh, Abdul Rashid Dar, son of Bashir Ahmad Dar and Imtiyaz Ahmad Mir, son of Abdul Gaffar Mir all resident of Mongam Wagoora. Police recovered contraband substances on their instance.
A case FIR number 01/2017 under Section 8/20 NDPS Act was registered against these drug peddlers in Police Station Chandoosa and further investigation is going on.
Meanwhile, Baramulla Police arrested another notorious drug peddler with contraband substances. He was identified as Skinder Khan, son of Late Mohammad Muzaffar Khan, resident of Limber Boniyar.
A case FIR number 10 under Section 8/20 NDPS Act was registered against him and investigation has been taken up.
Police also arrested a drug peddler and recovered huge quantity of prescription drugs from his possession in Sumbal area of Bandipora District.
Following a tip off, a police party of Police Station Sumbal during Naka checking near Dangerpora, Sumbal apprehended a drug peddler identified as Mudasir Ahmad Shah, son of Abdul Khaliq Shah, resident Batapora Langate, Handwara. On his checking police recovered 5,000 tablets of prescription drugs. A case FIR number 15/2017 under Section 8/20 NDPS was registered against him in Police Station Sumbal and further investigation has been taken up.
Acting on specific information, a police party of Police Station Bijbehra apprehended a drug peddler identified as Gulzar Ahmad Dar, son of Ghulam Qadir Dar, resident of Tulkhan Bijbehara. On his checking police recovered prescription drugs.
A case FIR number 13/2017 under Section 21/22 NDPS Act was registered against him and further investigation is going on.
