JAMMU: Simula Cricket Club on Sunday qualified for the semifinals of the ongoing First State 5o-over Chief Minister’s (CM) Cup Cricket Tournament, organised by J and K State Sports Council, at Country Cricket Academy (CCA), village Gharota, near here.
Now, Simula shall take on the winner of Sports Council XI and Zabarwan Cricket Club Nishat Srinagar scheduled for 28th March.
Earlier, in the quarterfinals decided on Sunday, Simula defeated United Cricket Club (UCC) Udhampur by four wickets. Batting first, after winning the toss, UCC set a target of 168 runs losing all their wickets in 44 overs. Raman Dutta emerged as most successful bowler for Simula, who took four wickets, followed by Sahil three, Shahsi and Kuldeep one each.
In reply, Simula chased the target losing their six wickets. Hardeep Singh remained top scorer with 39 runs while Anshuman and Mohit Puri contributed 23 each. Yuvraj and Shashi Kumar were other main contributors to the total with 20 and 18 runs in their respective accounts. For UCC, Nirbhay took two wickets while Avish, Anshuman, Ritik and Raman shared apiece each.
