AKHNOOR: With the brilliant batting displayed of Anshuman and Atul Sharma, Simula Cricket Club Jammu registered 99-run win over Shiva Cricket Club Akhnoor in the ongoing Shaheed Lieutenant Thakur Dass Memorial Cricket Tournament, organised by Akhnoor Sports Club at GHSS Ground, here on Tuesday. The tournament is sponsored by Communication and Capacity Development Unit (CCDU) of Department of PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control. Earlier, Shiva Club Akhnoor won the toss and decided to field first. Simula Club set a challengeable target of 208 for the loss of five in 20 overs. Anshuman and Atul Sharma played fine innings of 60 and 57 runs respectively while Vivek Thappa also played well and scored 35 runs and Raman Dutta chipped in 18 runs. For Shiva Club, Vipan Verma grabbed three wickets while Martin and Tyabu shared apiece each. Batting second, Shiva Club failed to chase the target and was bundled out for 109 runs in 18 overs. Akarsh Sharma and Armaan Chandan scored 25 runs each while Dinesh Mahajan added 22 to the total. For Simula Club, Ritik picked three wickets while Raman Dutta and Vivek shared two wickets each and Kuldeep took one. For his match winning knock, Anshuman was declared Man of the Match. Today’s match was officiated by the technical panel comprising Joginder Mangotra and Vikas Bali as Umpires while Sushil Gupta and Raman Sharma acted as Scorers.
Earlier, Munish Anand, SDPO Akhnoor, who was the Chief Guest in today’s match, gave Man of the Match awrad. He urged upon the youth to participate in the sports activities.
