Sikhs seek justice for 1989 riot victims

JAMMU: Expressing resentment over the injustice to the riot victims of 1989 in which 14 innocent members of Sikh Community were mercilessly killed in Jammu, activists of United Sikh Council and United Democratic Party held a protest.
Despite Ansari Commission Report, protesters said, the government has slept over the issue of justice and providing relief to the victims till today.
Since last 27 years, the government has never taken any decision in favour of the victims nor it has provided any kind of material help to the affected families, they said.
They demanded for immediate and considerate action to heal the wounds of the community, failing which the protestors would be left with no option, but to intensify the agitation till positive results are obtained.
Members of Sikh Progressive Front, Desh Bhagat Yaadgar Committee, Akal Purakh Ki Fauj J&K also participated in the protest.
Those who addressed the gathering were Makhan Singh, Balbir Singh, Amarjit Singh, Mohinder Pal Singh, Youth President, Mahinder Singh, Surinder Singh, Harbhajan Singh, Amarjit Singh Babloo, Narinder Pal Singh, Atamjit Singh and Ghar Singh.
