Shortlisted candidates for post of Jail Warden protest at Press Club

STATE TIMES NEWS
JAMMU: The shortlisted candidates for the post of Jail Warden in Prison Department on Tuesday staged a protest in support of their long pending demand of early release of final selection list, which is pending for the last four years.
Led by Ashwani Sharma, the short-listed candidates assembled outside Press Club, Jammu, and raised slogans in support of their demand and against the callous attitude adopted by the government and the concerned authorities.
The protesting candidates appealed to the Chief Minister to release the pending list.
Reiterating their resolve to continue their agitation, the protesters warned the government not to test their patience and release the list without any further delay.
Speaking on the occasion, Ashwani Kumar informed that 4,1182 unemployed youth had applied for the post in 2005, out of which 1,247 candidates were short listed for the interview, which was held in the month of September 2010.
He added that even after the passage of more than three years, the final selection list is yet to be released.
The selected candidates urged upon the Chief Minister, MoS Home, Principal Secretary Home, and Director General Prison to personally look into the matter and release the list at an earliest.
“No recruitment has taken place in the Department of Prison since 1995 and there are over 2000 vacancies, but the state government is still delaying the final selection of the candidates,” he said.
