JAMMU: Police on Monday arrested six bootleggers including on shopkeeper in different raids and recovered 311 pouches of liquor from their possession.
According to a report, on specific information, SDPO R S Pura Surinder Choudhary conducted a raid in village Kotli Shah Doula, R S Pura and apprehended two persons who were selling J&K Excise liquor pouches openly and recovered 45 pouches liquor from their possession. A case vide FIR No. 231/2017 under section 48A Excise Act was registered against them at Police Station R S Pura.
Similarly, SHO Police Station Bus Stand conducted raid on BC Road and apprehended one person with 70 pouches of J&K Excise liquor which he was carrying to earn illegitimate profit. A case vide FIR No. 85/2017 under section 48A Excise Act was registered at Police Station Bus Stand.
In another case, acting upon a specific information SHO Police Station Akhnoor Inspr. Pushpinder Singh conducted raid in provisioning shop at Village GurahJagir, apprehended one person and recovered 106 pouches of Excise liquor, 33 quarters of other brand liquor and 1 beer bottle from his possession. During questioning he told that this liquor has been provided by a salesman of wine shop at GurahJagir to earn illegitimate profit on dry day. A case vide FIR No. 203/2017 under section 188 RPC, 48A and 49B Excise Act was registered against him at Police Station Akhnoor.
