R S PURA: A general store and cycle spare parts shop in village Mamka, Miransahib was gutted on Monday night.
According to information the shop of Dharam Pal suddenly caught fire late in the night on Monday. The villagers noticing the flames informed Dharam Pal as well as the fire brigade besides the police.
The shopkeeper Dharam Pal son of Munshi Ram who lives in village Nasbara, rushed to the shop and expedited the fire services which reached the spot and launched their operation. In spite of their best efforts, the goods kept in the shop were reduced to ashes. The villagers said that the shopkeeper who is a poor man and the shop which he had taken on rent, was the only source of his bread and butter. They further said that he has suffered loss to the tune of lakhs of rupees and appealed to the government to give him compensation so that he could start his business afresh.
