Shivani wins two silver, bronze in 27th IMF Sport Climbing Championship

JAMMU: Shivani Charak, the prolific National medal winner of J&K, held the J&K flag flying high by winning a Bronze medal in Speed Climbing in women’s category on the last day of the 27th IMF Sport Climbing Championship organized by General Thimmayya National Academy of Adventure at Yavanika, Bengaluru.
It was her third medal in the 27th National Competition having bagged two Silver medals in Lead climbing and Bouldering on the first and second day respectively of the competition.
Shivani had performed well in the qualifying and earlier rounds of Speed climbing with a good timing and reached the semi final where she faced Shivpreet Pannu of Punjab, an Asian Youth Climbing champion in Speed climbing.
Both Shivpreet and Shivani generated terrific speed in the prestigious contest but despite her best efforts Shivani lost the semifinal by a whisker. However, she won the Bronze medal by defeating Ritika Rawat of Delhi.
Meanwhile, members of the Mountaineering Association of J&K (MAJK), led by Zorawar Singh Jamwal, president; Ram Khajuria, senior vice president; Shawetica Khajuria, general secretary and Rahul Sharma, chairman of Sprawling Buds ICSE School congratulated Shivani for the splendid feat.
