Shiv Sena seeks roll-back of VAT hike

STATE TIMES NEWS
JAMMU: Shiv Sena Bala Sahib Thackery made a strong appeal to Finance Minister Dr. Haseeb Drabu to immediately roll-back the enhanced levies on various commodities and unjustified increase in the VAT in the best interest of trading community within next 72 hours. While addressing the party workers here, State Chief, Dimpy Kohli termed the Budget 2016-17 as anti-poor and avoidable burden on the general masses. He said that BJP- PDP Government must take its decision back within next 72 hours so that traders heave a sigh of relief as business is totally collapsed in Jammu because of train services extended Katra. Markets in this summer season have a deserted look as pilgrims are reaching Katra Railway Station directly without any halt at Jammu, he added. Kohli, while criticising the budget, said that budget is just a jugglery of words and numbers, saying this offers nothing to the common people as agriculture, power, tourism and other sectors have completely been ignored. He expressed dismay on government’s silence over regularisation of various categories of workers, especially those of the PHE, who are on continued strike, resulting in erratic water supply in most of the areas.
Exhorting the workers to further strengthen the party at grass root level, Kohli said that they will help in fostering the bonds of inclusiveness, which is facing tremendous challenge due to divisive policies being pursued by politicians with vested interest. He said government must take any decision with a human heart not with the idea of earning revenue alone.
