Shiv Sena protests against over-charging in wine shops

Demands formation of complaint cell, make billing compulsory

JAMMU: Seeking strict action like cancellation of licenses, Shiv Sena (UBT) Jammu-Kashmir unit held protest demonstration against the over-charging in wine shops in J&K.
Shiv Sainiks at Indira Chowk in Jammu under the leadership of J&K chief Manish Sahni, held demonstration holding placards and raised slogans “Stop illegal recovery on liquor”, “Formation of complaint cell, make billing compulsory”, “Cancel license on over charging and illegal recovery”. Sahni termed this over charging and illegal recovery as a big scam in liquor trade. The shopkeepers involved in this illegal extortion have no fear of police or administration, he said.
On raising objections from customers, the salesmen at wine shops start misbehaving, Sahni said, adding that this illegal extortion increases manifold in far flung areas. And, in Kashmir, the tourists are openly being charged double the price.
Sahni said that the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir always claims of corruption-free administration, then how this illegal over-charging in wine shops is continuing in J&K, Sahni added.
The J&K UT administration must direct the Excise Department to take action, Sahni said. The protesters also submitted a memorandum to the Excise Department.
Besides others, General Secretary Vikas Bakshi, Vice President Balwant Singh, Sanjeev Kohli, President Kamgar Raj Singh, Secretary Rakesh Handa, Shashipal, Mangu Ram, Ajay Kumar, Ashwani Kumar were present during the demonstration.
