Shastri Club wins SP Smart T20 Cup

JAMMU: Shastri Cricket Club proved to be lucky against equally good Jammu Cricket Club (JCC) after they were declared winner by eight wickets applying DL method in rain disrupted title clash of the First SP Smart Twenty20 Cup Cricket Tournament played at MA Stadium, here on Wednesday.
Shastri Club was declared winner by the organisers considering first six overs run rate after rains halted the game.
Earlier, batting first, Jammu Cricket Club (JCC) set a target of 166 runs for six. Paras played superb innings of 71 runs coming off 42 deliveries with the help of ten boundaries. Surya and Shubam Pundeer were other main contributors to the total with 25 and 21 runs in their respective accounts. For Shastri Club, Aakash took two wickets while Varun and Vishal shared apiece each.
In reply, Shastri Club was batting at 72 for the loss of two wickets in seven overs when rains stopped the game. Ladda (34), Aakash (22) and Aavesh (15) were the main scorers while Vivek took both the wickets for JCC.
For his brilliant innings of 71 runs, Paras of JCC was named Man of the Match and presented with Rs 3,000 SBI Grah Tara cheque.
In the closing function, Secretary, State Sports Council, Jawaid Ahmed Shah was Chief Guest, who gave away the winners and runners up trophies as also other individual prizes. The winner team was given away prize money of Rs 35,000 while runners-up got Rs 15,000.
Chairman of SR College of Competitions, Praveen Sharma and a Senior Manager with SBI, B.K Wantoo were Guests of Honour.
