Sham vows to develop Akhnoor as model constituency

AKHNOOR: Senior Congress leader and Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control Sham Lal Sharma maintained that it is his endeavour to develop Akhnoor on modern lines and a model constituency in the State. For cherishing this dream, he has sought people’s support for another stint.
Addressing a crowded convention of OBC people at village Bhamberwan near Akhnoor town, which was organised by the Vice Chairman, OBC Advisory Board, Master Kuldeep Raj Verma, the minister said there is no alternate to the Congress Party which has historical background.
Cautioning the people against the propaganda unleashed by the disruptive forces like BJP, PDP, NC and BSP against the Congress, the minister said that these unscrupulous forces appear at a particular season (during election) and try to spread false rumours incite the sentiments of people in the name of religion, caste, creed and colour.
Referring to the development of Akhnoor Constituency, the minister asked the people to compare his two consecutive tenures as representative of the Akhnoor constituency with previous 50 years and note the difference themselves on ground. He claimed that massive development has taken place in all sectors in the rural and urban areas of the constituency and entire picture is changed. He said the tempo of development will continue, provided the people support and strengthen the Congress party and his candidature, he added.
Appreciating the role of OBCs in the development of State, particularly in Jammu region, the minister said that their strength and importance cannot be undermined and they are equally partner in the progress of the State. He assured them to provide their dues if Congress Party is voted to power in the State. He also appreciated the efforts of OBC, Vice Chairman, Kuldeep Verma for highlighting the problems and issues of the community. He asked them to support the Congress Party bring it to power for the progress, prosperity of people.
Former MP Jammu-Poonch and veteran Congress leader, Madan Lal Sharma and Kuldeep Verma also addressed the gathering and urged the people to support the candidature of Sham Lal Sharma during the Assembly elections.
Several leaders of OBCs including, Pradhan Bansi Lal Verma, retired Superintendent of Police, Sardhari Lal and Sarpanch Sham Lal also addressed the gathering and pledged their wholehearted support to the candidature of Sham Lal Sharma.
