JAMMU: Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control, Sham Lal Choudhary on Tuesday convened a meeting to review the functioning of PHE and Irrigation and Flood Control (I&FC) Departments.
The minister reviewed the bio-metric seeding of the casual, need based and contractual workers engaged in RTIC/I&FC Department.
Reviewing the working of I&FC, the Minister took stock of the status of paddy plantation and irrigation facilities being extended to the farmers. He also reviewed water supply position from the Ranbir and Partap canals.
The minister instructed the officers to speed up the pace of work on all ongoing projects being executed under different schemes of the department and complete these within shortest possible time.
Chief Engineer, I&FC, Rajeev Gandotra, Chief Engineer, RTIC, H C Jerath and all concerned SEs and Executive Engineers attended the meeting. Later, the minister chaired a meeting to assess the functioning of PHE. The minister instructed the officers for conducting regular surprise inspections of pumping stations and other departmental utilities for their effective monitoring and functioning. He asked for time bound repair of damaged or dysfunctional machinery besides keeping ready the standby machinery.
The minister exhorted upon the officers to take prompt action on all complaints received from the people pertaining to their respective departments for speedy disposal of the same.
