JAMMU: Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control, Sham Lal Sharma on Saturday dedicated newly constructed Health Sub Centre (HSC) to the people of Yakh. He also inaugurated the buildings of Government High School, Gharattal and Baruie.
The health sub centre building has been constructed by PWD with a cost of Rs.62.92 lakh under National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) while two Government High Schools building have been constructed by PWD at a cost of Rs.39.65 lakh each under Rashtriy Madyamic Shikasha Abhivan (RMSA) at Gharattal and Baruie in Chowki Choura and Akhnoor Zone.
Speaking on the occasion, the minister said that the government is focusing on infrastructure development in two core sectors health and education. The construction of HSC and schools building are also part of the ongoing process of development, he added.
The minister said that the hospital will provided better health care with all latest diagnostic and treatment facilities.
He asked the concerned to ensure proper medicare is provided to the people and upkeep of the health Institutions in rural areas.
He said that government has made best efforts to strengthen health services in rural and far-flung areas during the past couple of years and constructed/upgraded number of hospitals in the area. He also congratulated the people of Akhnoor for seven public health centres for uncovered area of Akhnoor being sanctioned by the government.
At Gharattal and Baruie after inaugurating the school buildings the minister said that teachers have great responsibility towards the nation and they should discharge their duties with missionary spirit. He asked them to shape the career of students in such a way that they become good citizens to take future challenges. He emphasised the need for promoting moral and value added education amongst the younger generation along with academic activities.
Describing teacher’s community as main instrument responsible for shaping the future of nation, the Minister has stressed the need for improving the standard of education at par with global parameters to keep pace with the changing scenario.
He also lauded the role of the private sector in improving the quality of education in the state and said that government institutions should encourage a competitive spirit with their private counter parts.
He said during the last over five and half year, scores of new schools have been opened besides upgrading the existing to the next level to provide education facilities to the children at their door steps. He said that Akhnoor constituency has witnessed massive development in all sectors because of effective planning various schemes in R&B, PHE, PDD, Health, Tourism and Education sectors have been initiated to achieve development of the area, he added.
On the occasion, the Minister asked the parents to provide higher education to their wards especially to the girls enabling them to become self reliant. He stressed upon the teachers to provide quality education to the students so that they can compete in different job oriented fields. He said the higher academic and technical education facilities are being upgraded across the state.
SDM, SDPO Akhnoor, CMO Jammu, Executive Engineers, PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control, PWD, ACEO, sectrol officer, BMOs, sarpanch and panch, students and local people of the areas were also present on the occasion.
