Sham calls for coordinated efforts for tangible results

SRINAGAR: Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control, Sham Lal Sharma on Friday expressed his deepest condolences on the deaths of people who lost their lives due to unprecedented floods across the State.
In a statement issued here today, the minister has conveyed his solidarity with the bereaved families and prayed for the peace to the departed souls. He said that “nature has snatched many precious lives which cannot be compensated with anything, but need of the hour is to help those in crisis at different parts in grip of flood”, the Minister maintained.
Appealing people to not to panic, the minister said that government has already sounded red alert throughout the State and administration is working round the clock to save life and property in the affected areas. He said besides civil administration, the army and para-military forces are also helping the administration in relief and rescue operations across the State. He has asked the people to keep faith in the government that is making all efforts to bring the situation to normal within next few days. He said government has initiated relief measures in a big way on ground and people must liaise with the administration and control rooms set up at different places for any kind of exigency and assistance.
Meanwhile, the minister has urged the administration to redouble their rescue efforts to save the precious lives and property and extend necessary assistance to the needy at this juncture. He has stressed the need for close coordination between different agencies for achieving tangible results. He has directed the engineers of Flood Control Department to keep close vigil on the situation and monitor the relief and rescue operations round the clock.
