RAJOURI: Senior PDP leader Shahzad Khan conducted an extensive tour of various flood affected areas of Ghambir Mughlan, Rajdhani, Bhagla, Katemar, Mangota, Danna, Bela, Samyan etc wherein he lambasted the indifferent and callous approach of the present Coalition Government to address this part of the State.
In a press release Shahzad said that many of the parts of Pir Panjal region have also been badly affected by the devastating floods but the approach of the government has been very casual.
Shahzad mentioned that despite the lapse of more than a month, no concrete step at providing relief and rehabilitation as well as reconstruction has been taken by the government. There has been no provision of free ration as claimed by the government to the flood affected people here. The only thing that has been seen here even during this calamity is rampant corruption, he alleged.
He said that the people have not been provided with temporary shelters and left to themselves to save from the approaching harsh winter. The partially damaged dwellings have not been repaired due to which during rains the people are forced to leave their houses lest they might get buried.
Shahzad said that the present government has totally failed to rehabilitate the displaced population adding that the revenue officials have not even reached most of the flood affected areas so as to conduct a survey of the quantum of damage. While in most of the places where they have approached and relief distributed, it has been just pick and choose method. The lucky blue eyed people have got the benefits. The present scenario is such that unaffected families are receiving relief funds instead of the affected people.
