Shahnawaz continues relief mission


SURANKOTE: Continuing the pace of relief work in Surankote, Choudhary Shahnawaz, State President of Youth Congress visited various Panchayats and flood affected villages on Tuesday. Though he is visiting every flood affected areas for last few weeks, in last two days he visited Hari Budha (upper and lower) Panchayats, Nerian Panchayat and Pisti Dhara in Surankote where he took stock of situation arisen due to flood and also distributed relief material among the victims.
Taking the stock of situation in Pisti Dhara where five houses were damaged and the land was completely destroyed due to land slide, he said that this place is not safe for construction of houses again.
Shahnawaz Choudhary also visited Mandi, Baila and Rajpur Panchayats where he distributed relief material including dry ration and blankets. The people of these Panchayats said that it is for the first time a political leader has visited them adding that Shahnawaz is a ray of hope for them as all others who visit them come to take their votes but no one shares their sorrow and agony. They also added that they are deprived of basic amenities even today when people talk of modernisation and development.
Addressing the people, Shahnawaz said that it is very unfortunate that people are still deprived of basic amenities adding that the government has not taken the issues of the region seriously which is the greatest failure of leadership. He further said the there is a need to concentrate on the development of this area and he will be available day and night to fight the battle of rights and development for the poor people of this area.
Youth Congress Chief was accompanied by various Panchs, Sarpanchs, prominent citizens and youth leaders in his strive to provide relief and sympathise with the people who lost their property including houses, lands and lives.
