SRINAGAR: Including former coach and captain of J&K Ranji team, Abdul Qayoom has asked the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to intervene and take over the J&K Cricket Association (JKCA) for the good of the gentleman’s game.
“We the former Ranji cricketers request the BCCI to formulate a Cricket Administrative Committee which are in lines with the Lodha panel recommendations so that eligible cricketers can come to the forefront and select the deserving players,” mentioned Abdul Qayoom in a representation.
He further said, “Since the taking over of the reins of JKCA by the court appointed administrators and the CEO, strange directions have been initiated in JKCA and against the Lodha Panel recommendations which is almost hostile towards the welfare of the cricket, it is further enlightened that blue eyed people with no cricketing background and credentials are being picked up from past three years for the cricketing governance, which is in complete derogation to the Lodha panel recommendations”.
Qayoom, talking on behalf of the senior cricketers, reiterated that the hostile environment towards the players while selections have created a forte of turmoil amongst the cricketers whether to continue playing this wonderful game or part ways with it.
Abdul Qayoom further added that CEO JKCA has no authority to appoint the selectors, coaches and sports staff moreover he himself does not fill in the criterion to be the CEO as per Lodha recommendations.
It was therefore requested that cricket Administrative Committee may please be formed by BCCI for running the cricketing affairs of JKCA and the process initiated by the CEO may please be stopped.
