HIRANAGAR: NSS Unit of Govt. GLDM Degree College Hiranagar organised a rally from college campus to the adopted slum at Ward No. 2 Hiranagar as a part of Swachhata Pakhwara. The NSS volunteers of the college urged the slum dwellers to maintain cleanliness and shun open defecation.
Earlier the rally was flagged off by Dr. N.K Gupta, Principal of the College who while speaking on the occasion stressed upon the need of cleanliness of the college campus and its surroundings.
The rally was led by Prof. Vijay Kumar Chandan NSS Programme Officer of the College. 45 NSS Volunteers took part in the rally. Senior faculty of college Prof. Daya Vilas, Prof. Rakesh Sharma, Prof. Arun Kumar, Prof. Gaurav, Kumar Prof. Nidhi, Prof. Arvind Kumar and Dr. Neha Bhagat accompanied the rally.
Meanwhile NSS units of Govt. Degree College Kathua organised a seminar on Swachhata in line of various activities being conducted under Swachhta Pakhwara that is being celebrated in the college from August 1 to 15. The programme was organised under the supervision of NSS Programme Officers Prof. Rajesh Kumar, Prof Manmohan Singh and Prof. Shikha. Prof. Ram Murti Sharma, former senior NSS Programme Officer of the college was the Chief Guest on the occasion. Principal of the College, Prof. Assa Ram Sharma also stressed on the importance of cleanliness in our daily life. Aakriti Jasrotia was adjudged the first while Ankita Gupta stood second and Abhimanyu Singh and Jeevan Jyoti were adjudged third by penal of jury comprising of Prof. Ritu Bhagat, Prof Somnesh and Prof. Sandeep Choudhary. The programme culminated with the vote of thanks by NSS Programme Officer Prof. Rajesh Kumar followed by Swachhta Shapath. Senior faculty members were also present during the function.
