Seminar held on women empowerment

BHADARWAH: A seminar titled ‘Need for Empowerment of Women’ was organised by the Department of Commerce Government Degree College Bhadarwah here on Wednesday. As many as 100 guests attended the programme. Four students participants namely Meena Sharma, Shravan Goswami, Pankaj Kumar and Surinder Singh from different classes and streams of the college expressed their views on the subject and pointed out responsibilities in making women powerful, self reliant and vital.
Principal of the College Prof. Z.A Hashmi stressed on the gender equality in the society. He also made it clear that a civilized society cannot flourish unless women dignity is upheld.
Prof. Shikha Kak (Department of English) spoke extensively on the multifarious role of women as a mother in fostering the talents of a child. She also described a women a kind considerate, guardian who practically holds the reigns of her domestic household and in certain cases, supports her life partner in earning bread and butter for her family.
Prof. Surinder Singh (Department of Economics) presented a statistical data of the contribution of women in promoting the economy of the nation.
Prof. Prithvi Raj (HOD Commerce) spoke threadbare on the need of career counseling to the budding generations especially women for making right career options.
Prof. Basharat Iqbal (HOD English) pointed out the unfortunate aspect of the rising rate of crimes against women in the present day world. He expressed his concern over the incidents of violence harassment and exploitation that continues in India unabated.
Prof. Naz Zargar quoted instances from scriptures wherein the women have been blessed with and outstanding status because of the responsibilities they share.
The vote of thanks was presented by Prof. Vijay Kumar Department of Urdu. The programme was anchored by Prof. Manzoor Ahmed of Commerce Department. Prof. Nisar Ahmed, Prof. Pinki Kotwal, Prof. Daya Kotwal, Prof. Abinash, Prof. Amir Aslam and Prof. Asif were also present.
