RAJOURI: With an aim to make the society aware especially the university going students about the ill-effects of drugs and a need to follow a multi dimensional policy in war against drugs menace, Rashtriya Rifles on Wednesday organised a seminar in the campus of Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University of Rajouri.
In this seminar special guests from different sections of society and of State as well as having national level recognition took part who also addressed the programme which included Retired IPS officer from Punjab, Shashi Kant and Chairman Team Jammu, Zorawar Singh Jamwal.
Besides this Vice Chancellor of BGSBU Prof Javed Masarat and DIG Police Rajouri – Poonch Range, Uttam Chand, Sumit Bhargav representing media side from Rajouri and some representatives from students union also addressed.
Inaugural address was made by Commander 13 Sector, Brig S.K Sharma who called for an inclusive approach for war against drugs.
Think tanks and speakers from different sections of society addressed from the stage and gave their views about the menace of drugs and other aspects related to it.
DGP Punjab (Retired), Shashi Kant highlighted loopholes in the system due to which drugs are spreading fast.
Team Jammu Chairman Zorawar Singh Jamwal highlighted the status of drugs in J and K exposing loopholes in society and carelessness of government in it.
University Vice Chancellor BGSBU Prof. Javed Masarat explained various aspects of drugs menace and how some new synthetic drugs are taking toll on human lives.
A girl student of university called for a positive approach from student fraternity in checking this menace while a boy hailing from Rajouri explained how his family lost one son due to drugs menace.
Representing media fraternity of Rajouri, Journalist Sumit Bhargav also spoke in the seminar and called for a multi dimensional approach to deal with this menace in Rajouri.
GOC Romeo Force, Major General Yogendra Dimri presented conclusion speech and assured all help from army in eradication of menace from society. He also announced a well developed ground for BGSB University

Army informed that small level awareness camps at village level on their part are a routine affair aimed to make aware the people of rural pockets against drugs menace and now army is also holding such awareness programmes in educational institutions to keep students away from this problem.
