Security forces to remain on tenterhooks during festival season

STATE TIMES NEWS
JAMMU: At a time when tension is prevailing all along the Line of Control and the International Border, the security forces including the State police responsible for maintaining law and order situation in the interior areas of Jammu and Kashmir are also facing the heat ahead of prolonged festival season.
Intelligence agencies in the State have been constantly warning the security forces to remain vigilant to thwart nefarious designs of militant handlers sitting across the border.
According to these inputs, Pakistan is desperately trying to stage some stunning fidayeen strikes in different parts of the State to keep the pot boiling and deflect the attention of the security forces towards internal law and order situation and propagate to the world that it is not the Pakistan but the home grown militants who are staging terror strikes in Jammu and Kashmir.
The late night strike on an army camp in Baramulla on Sunday was aimed at provoking India and telling the world that the perpetrators of terror strike had not infiltrated from across the Line of Control but came from inside.
Following the strike the army authorities would be carrying out fresh review of the security bandobast of all its installations and where ever necessary would be taking extra precautions to avoid similar strikes.
The ongoing Navratra festival is already posing a big challenge to the security forces as they had pressed additional companies around all the religious places including base camp of Katra and all along the yatra trek to maintain tight vigil on the movement of miscreants in  crowded places. In addition the vulnerable stretch of Jammu- Pathankot National Highway and railway stations are posing a big challenge to the security forces to maintain peace in the region. The International Border is vulnerable as Pakistan Rangers may try and push small group of infiltrators to mount another fidayeen strike on security installations along the route.
The security of the airports and other crowded places such as famous eating points and market places, have been increased to avoid any hostage crisis.
Ahead of Dusshera celebrations the security forces have already started preparing their men and machinery to ensure peaceful passage of the festival.
In the next few weeks the entire State Govermenmt would also be reaching Jammu as part of the Durbar Move shifting and the security forces would be over stretched to maintain peace and instill the feeling of safety and security among the local masses.
