JAMMU: The recent terror strike in Nagrota has virtually brought security personnel on their toes in and around Jammu. As the attack had also exposed the chinks in the multi tier security ring, efforts are being made to plug the existing gaps and beef up security infrastructure.
The faulty CCTV cameras are being repaired and monitored 24×7 to keep a hawk’s eye on the movement of suspected people.
Besides activating number of security check points in and around Jammu city, random searches are being carried out to instill sense of security among the local residents.
Screening of vehicles, especially during peaks hours and late evening is being done in residential areas and busy market plazas to ensure fool proof security arrangements.
Synergy between the different wings of the security is being fine tuned to minimise the response time to emergency situations.
A senior police officer said, “We have thoroughly reviewed the security scenario and our boys are not leaving any stone unturned to ensure safety of common citizens”.
Due to high alert, the Station House Officers have been directed by the senior police officers to scan their areas on regular basis and liaison with the local people to ensure real time intelligence gathering.
Even the movement of VVIP’s is being carefully organised through the busy roads and attempts are being made to ensure smooth passage of their cavalcades without any blockades.
In case of any blockade even at traffic light signal the accompanying security personnel are seen standing guard close to the VVIP cars to prevent any attack. In addition, the security personnel deployed at the security check points have been told to randomly carry out searches and track down any suspicious movement in their areas of jurisdiction.
