Secretary Sports Council inaugurates 35th J&K Junior Volleyball Championship

JAMMU: The 3-day 35th J&K UT Junior Volleyball Championship for boys and girls was declared open by Nuzhat Gul, Secretary J&K Sports Council at M.A Stadium, here on Friday.
Speaking on the opening ceremony of the championship Secretary Sports Council underlined the importance of sports among youth in carrying various awareness programmes initiated by the Government for their well being and overall development.
Appreciating the role of all office bearers of Volleyball Association of J&K headed by Sidharth Daluja President VAJK in nurturing and promoting volleyball game in every nook and corner of JKUT through their established district volleyball units, Secretary exhorted other sports associations/sports lovers to get inspiration from the Association for spreading their activities in far flung areas of JKUT.
The Secretary recalled the contribution of international volleyball players who are sons of soil namely Saqlain Tariq, Kartik Sharma, Mannat Choudhary, Shadab Shameem and Mahir Wani for scaling new heights in the arena of volleyball at national and international levels glorifying the pride of JK UT.
The Secretary also expressed her gratitude to the players/coaches association for creating new history in 48th Junior National Volleyball Championship held at M.A Stadium Jammu in the year 2022-23 by securing bronze medal- for the first time in Boys section.
She assured players/sports lovers all kind of support for promotion of sports.
Interacting with the players of Doda district team, the Secretary gave assurance for setting of Indoor Stadium in Doda district besides installing of fixed volleyball poles at Play Field Shastri Nagar Jammu and at Zorawar Singh Stadium Reasi in lieu of portable volleyball poles already installed.
The captain of Jammu district volleyball girls team Simran administered pledge to the players for playing in true sportsman spirit during the championship.
Earlier welcoming the dignitaries, Vijay Kumar Magotra General Secretary VAJK gave an account of three-day championship which is spread over in two venues focusing on completion of as many as 60 matches during the championship.
He also disclosed that the association conducts two JK UT level championships one for seniors and other for juniors unlike other sports association of JK UT.
He also assured the dignitaries that the players and participants would leave no stone unturned in highlighting the issues of My Vote My Youth, My Youth My Pride, FIT India, Drug Abuse, Save Water etc. on their return to their respective areas all across JK UT.
Sidharth Daluja, President VAJK honoured Nuzhat Gul Secretary J&K Sports Council with a memento along with other dignitaries Balvinder Singh Divisional Sports Officer, Suraj Bhan Singh Manager Indoor complex on the occasion.
Amongst dignitaries Manmeet Singh Amn President Jammu District Volleyball Association, Ashok Padha President Udhampur District Volleyball Association, Kuldeep Magotra CEO, H.S Gill Vice President, Ramesh Sharma Treasurer, Mohd. Tariq Joint Secretary, Akbar Ali Office Secretary, Suresh Chib, Veena Kumari, Manpreet Kour members of Volleyball Association of J&K, Rajeev Dogra (Rtd.) SAI Volleyball coach, Prateek Kumar SAI Volleyball coach, Naresh Kumar volleyball coach and large number of member of various sports association were present on the occasion.
The matches are being conducted by a panel of recognized referees of Volleyball Federation of India and State referees Amarjeet singh, Mulkhraj Sharma, Amit Sharma, Neeraj Sharma, Intizar Ali, Mohd. Shabir, Sidharth Hussain, Wasim Akram, Parvinder Singh, Manzoor, Jagit Singh, Shah Faisal, Abdul Qayoom.
