JAMMU: Secretary Cooperative Department, Bashir Ahmed Bhat convened a meeting to review the functioning of Department.
Threadbare discussions were held on various issues pertaining to strengthening of cooperative movement, revival of defunct societies, and early disposal of arbitration cases and diversification of activities through Cooperative Societies to make the societies viable.
The meeting was apprised that of 460 registered societies, elections have been conducted for 332 societies in Jammu division. Secretary while speaking on the occasion stressed on making concerted efforts to strengthen the cooperative movement in view of its huge potential to generate employment opportunities.
He directed the concerned officers to furnish the lists of societies to which elections are to be conducted by the Registrar Office. Deputy Registrars Agriculture for Jammu, Poonch and Rajouri Districts were directed to make concerted efforts for recovery of overdue loans from Poultry Societies within one month. Mr Bhat also directed to complete the Poultry projects especially in Poonch district by June 30, 2017.
Secretary while discussing the issue of Dairy Societies with CEO, JKMPCL, emphasized on opening of Milk Collection Centers at village level in Poonch district.
Among others the meeting was attended by Additional Registrar Cooperative Societies, Anjana Tikoo, Joint Registrar (Audit), Jammu, Dr. R. K Thapa, and Joint Registrar (Special), Jammu Trishla Kumari.
