JAMMU: Secretary, Cooperative, R K Koul took a review of the National Cooperative Development Corporation (NCDC) projects under implementation in the State at Jammu here on Saturday
It was informed in the meeting that the National Cooperative Development Corporation has sanctioned projects worth Rs.4535.86 lakh under various projects in favour of the Cooperative Department including ICDP projects of district Kathua in Jammu division and district Anantnag in Kashmir division. With the persistent efforts of the state government the NCDC has now sanctioned special projects under ICDP in the erstwhile district of Doda and district Baramulla to the extent of Rs.28 crore. Under the poultry development scheme 35 poultry projects have been sanctioned in phase-I amounting to Rs.670.04 lakh by the NCDC whereas in phase-II, 48 projects worth Rs.1929.16 stand sanctioned by the NCDC.
The Regional Director, NCDC disclosed that the NCDC is willing to provide assistance in the cooperative sector for setting up of Micro Hydro Electric Power Projects as also for tourism development in the state.
The Secretary asked the Regional Director, NCDC to organize awareness camps in collaboration with state cooperative department so as to make people aware about the various schemes being funded by the NCDC for ameliorating the lot of people associated with the cooperative movement in the state as also to provide employment opportunities to the educated unemployed youth so as to improve their socio-economic status.
He also called upon functionaries of the department to whole heartedly pursue the projects whose term has been extended by the NCDC up to ending March, 2015.
Special Secretary, Cooperative Department, Kamla Devi, Additional Registrar Jammu, Anjana Tickoo and other senior officers of the cooperative also attended the meeting.
