Second Sant Gurbaksh Singh Memorial Hockey Tournament: J&K Police faces Namdhari XI in final

JAMMU: Jammu and Kashmir Police shall be playing against Namdhari XI in the final of the ongoing Second Sant Gurbaksh Singh (Danna) Memorial Hockey Tournament, organised by Sarab Sangat under the aegis of Hockey J and K, at K K Hakhu Stadium, here on Sunday.
Earlier, in the semifinals, played on Saturday, J and K Police defeated Baba Banda Bahadur Hockey Club, Poonch 5-2. Satwant Singh and Jaspreet Singh played fine game thereby helped the side make it a big win.
Both Satwant and Jaspreet netted two goals each. While Satwant struck in the fifth and 42nd minute while Jaspreet scored in 24th and 33rd minute of the match. Sikanderpal Singh further improved the lead sounding the board in the 44th minute.
For Poonch Club, Ravneet Singh (32nd) and MP Singh (39th) were the scorers.
In other semifinals of the day, the Punjab based Namdhari XI blanked the fighting local side of Guru Nanak Nagar Club (GNNC) 4-0. The margin would have been on higher side had GNNC goalkeeper not displayed exceptional skills, especially in the first half of the play.
Bishan Singh (25th and 42nd), Gagandeep Singh (29th) and Udhampreet Singh (34th) were the scorers for winning Namdhari XI.
Today’s matches were officiated by the technical penal comprising Dalbir Mehta, Jagjit Singh, D Singh, Satvir Singh, Charanjeet Singh, Joginder Singh and G.S Bakshi.
