SCWA condemns Gujarat incident, seeks security for Dalits

JAMMU: All J and K Scheduled Caste Welfare Association (SCWA) strongly condemned the attack on six Dalit youths in Una in Gujarat.
“We are upset about the attack on Dalits in Gujarat and strongly condemn the Una incident,” President of the Association, Ruplal Bharti said in a memorandum submitted to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Talking to reporters, Bharti said, “We appeal to Prime Minister through the memorandum to save Dalits from the brutal hands of casteist in the country who are not only anti-social but anti-humanity as well.”
He asked government to frame the Act of Uniform Civil Code and Annihilation of Caste System initiated by Dr. B.R Ambedkar as soon as possible and implement it to protect people from discrimination. He also appealed to Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti to enact SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act or get Central Act extended to J and K to protect them from brutal hands with respect to their life, property and honour.
