SCSBW approves NoC for ring roads in Srinagar, Jammu cities


SRINAGAR: Minister for Forests and Environment Mian Altaf Ahmad on Friday presided over eighth meeting of Standing Committee of State Board for Wildlife (SCSBW) and reviewed the status of the decisions taken in the seventh meeting of the Board.
Commissioner Secretary Tourism, Secretary Forests, Chief Wildlife Warden and senior officers of wildlife and police were present on the occasion.
The meeting reviewed matters regarding issuance of NoC for construction of Galander-Narbal-Wayul ring road proposed to be constructed in Srinagar to ease the traffic pressure on the city roads. The Board also discussed proposed 4 lane ring road bypass in Jammu which will connect Jammu city with Nagrota bypass via Raya Morah.
The meeting decided to issue NoC in both the cases for conducting preliminary survey of the project subject to installation of sound barrier, declaring the area no horn zone, passing through Hokersar wetland and fixing speed limit for the vehicles taking this route.
The Board also discussed the issues pertaining to rationalization of boundaries of Sudhmahadev Wildlife Conservation Reserve, construction of Bursar Hydroelectric Project in Kishtwar High Altitude National Park, laying of natural gas pipeline from Bhatinda in Punjab to Jammu passing through Jasrota Wildlife Sanctuary in Kathua District also came up for discussion.
