JAMMU: All J and K SBM Employees Association urged upon the State Government to release the wages of Saakshar Bharat Mission (SBM) teachers and also regularize their services.
Provincial President SBM Employees Forum Ishfaq Ahmed, while addressing the protesting employees here, said that nearly 7000 youth were engaged under the Centrally Sponsored Scheme under Adult Skilled Development Programme in the State in 2009.
“These youth, who are well qualified, are working in their respective areas under State Literacy Mission with zeal and dedication. They are performing the job of teaching, election duty and exam duty but unfortunately, their services have not been regularized till date,” he alleged. Even, he said, many of them have not been paid their wages by the concerned authorities for the last three years.
He appealed to Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti to intervene personally and issue instruction to the concerned department to issue orders for their regularization and release of pending wages at the earliest. They threatened the state government to fulfill their genuine demands on priority basis otherwise SBM employees will go for hunger strike in the month of May 2016.
