SAYSS seeks compensation for martyrs of 2008 agitation

UDHAMPUR: Former District Convener of Shri Amarnath Yatra Sangarsh Samiti (SAYSS) Vikram Singh Slathia on Sunday urged the Government to pay compensation to martyrs who have lost their lives during Amarnath Yatra row in 2008. He demanded the compensation for Amarnath Land row victims while condemning the recent Jammu violence. He also condoled the death of a Sikh youth in police firing.
Referring the recent Jammu violence, Slathia said that it was well planned strategy of anti national elements to create unrest and to disturb peaceful atmosphere of the State. Slathia expressed deep sympathy with Sikh community and family of youth who was killed in the conflict. He however, hailed the government’s decision to provide rupees five lakh to the family of victim.
He urged the government to pay Rs. 5 lakh as compensation and government jobs to the family members of martyrs of Amarnath Land row of 2008.
He castigated state government for not giving compensation to Amarnath Land row victims despite assurance by government.
He also sought adequate security for the ensuing Amarnath Yatra.
