Srinagar: Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed on Friday nominated heads of District Development Boards in order to approve and implement the annual plans of these administrative units.
“For approval of district annual plans and their implementation in right earnest for economic development and welfare of the State, the Chief Minister has nominated heads of District Development Boards of 20 districts,” an official spokesman said.
The heads for development boards for Leh and Kargil were not named as these districts have elected Autonomous Hill Development Councils discharging these functions.
The Chief Minister will be the chairman for Srinagar District Development Board while his Deputy Nirmal Singh will be the chairman of Jammu and Samba Districts Development Boards.
Minister for Finance Haseeb A Drabu has been named Chairman of Budgam District Development Board, Minister for Revenue Javaid Mustafa Mir for Kulgam, Minister for RDD and Panchayati Raj Abdul Haq Khan will head Anantnag District Development Board and Minister for Horticulture A.R Veeri is the Chairman of Pulwama District Development Board.
Minister for Transport Abdul Gani Kohli has been named Chairman of Shopian District Development Board, Minister for PHE Sukhnandan Kumar as Chairman of Baramulla District Development Board, Minister for Youth Services and Sports and IT, Imran Raza Ansari as Chairman of Bandipora District Development Board and Minister for CAPD Zulfkar Choudhary as Chairman of Kupwara District Development Board.
Minister for Agriculture Ghulam Nabi Lone has been nominated Chairman of Ganderbal District Development Board, Minister for Health and Medical Education Lal Singh as Chairman of Udhampur District Development Board, Minister for Industries and Commerce Chander Parkash Ganga as Chairman of Kathua District Development Board and Minister for Animal Husbandry Sajad Gani Lone as Chairman of Doda District Development Board.
Minister for Education, Naeem Akhtar will head the Rajouri District Development Board, Minister for Social Welfare Bali Bhagat is Chairman of Kishtwar District Development Board, Minister for Roads and Buildings Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari as Chairman of Poonch District Development Board, while Minister for Law Syed Basharat Ahmad Bukhari will be Chairman of Ramban District Development Board.
Minister for Cooperatives Chering Dorjay has been named as Chairman of Reasi District Development Board.
To ensure balanced development of all regions and areas of the State, the Chief Minister has decided to chair the board meetings of all 20 districts himself while the Deputy Chief Minister will also participate in these meetings, the spokesman said. (PTI)
