JAMMU: BJP MLA Jammu West Sat Sharma (CA) met Minister for Transport Abdul Ghani Kohli and discussed certain issues related to problems faced by auto drivers and owners regarding installation of fare meters.
Accompanied by auto union members and BJP leaders, Sharma apprised the Transport Minister of the hardships being faced by the auto union members. He asked for an early redressal of their problems.
Various issues which were discussed in the meeting included high rate of penalties imposed on auto drivers by Motor Vehicles Department, regularisation of auto stands by the concerned department, issuing of driving licenses for auto drivers which have been closed since 2005, etc.
The President of the Union, Shanti Swaroop assured the minister that every rule and regulation of the Department will be followed by the union.
The Transport Minister assured the MLA and the delegation that a viable solution will soon be implemented to end the problems of the auto union.
BJP Mandal President Ayodhya Gupta, Sanjay Sawhney, K.L Bhardwaj and Manohar Lal accompanied the delegation.
