Sarpanch lands in ACB’s net, arrested red-handed while accepting bribe

SRINAGAR: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has arrested one Gulam Mohammad Dar, Sarpanch, Halqa Panzgam, Awantipora for demanding and accepting bribe of Rs 5,000. As per an official spokesperson, the sleuths of Anti Corruption Bureau received a complaint against one Gulam Mohammad Dar, son of Asad Ullah Dar, resident of Panzgam, Awantipora and Sarpanch, Halqa Panzgam for demanding bribe of Rs 5,000 for passing and signing Labour Muster Roll of Labourers engaged under ‘MGNREGA’ by concerned Contractor.
“As contents of the complaint disclosed demand of bribe by Sarpanch, which required prompt action, immediately after receipt of complaint FIR No. 17/2022 was registered at Police Station ACB South Kashmir and investigation started, followed by constitution of a trap team, which caught accused red handed while accepting bribe of Rs 5,000,” said official, adding that he was arrested on the spot after completing necessary legal formalities and further investigation is going on.
