JAMMU: A hockey tournament in the memory of Sant Gurbaksh Singh Ji Danna would be organised by Sarb Sangat of J and K State at KK Hakku Stadium, here, from 16th to 23rd November, 2014. The tournament to held under the guidance and supervision of Sant Tejwant Singh Ji of Dera Sant Pura Danna and the aegis of Hockey J and K.
This was announced by Harminder Singh, General Secretary Hockey J and K.
The main objective of this tournament is to involve and encourage youth towards sports and fitness so that they stay away from un-healthy life style, and promotion of sports, he told reporters.
In this tournament the 16 top teams of J and K and outside State are participating i.e. J and K Police, Gurdaspur Hockey Club, XI Star Pathankot Hockey Club, Sujjanpjur Hockey Club, Namdhari XI Hockey Club, Poonch Hockey Club and prominent hockey clubs of Jammu will be main attractions.
The opening ceremony of tournament will be begin on 16th November at 3:00 PM and every day two matches will played as per draws. The final match will be held on 23rd November, 2014 at 3.00 PM.
The tournament will be conducted according to the rules and regulations of the Hockey India on knock-out basis, Harminder said adding that in case of a draw tie breaker rule would be applied.
The teams should report at the venue of the match at least 30 minute before the scheduled time, he said adding that a maximum of 16 players may be included in each team and the number 1-32 displayed on the back of shirt and this number shall remain constant throughout the competition.
If any one wishes to lodge a protest his manager must submit a written request within 10 minutes after the completion of the match and hand it over to the technical officer on duty along with Rs. 1000 as protest fee, refundable only if the protest is upheld, he added.
Janak Singh, Manmeet Singh and Romal Singh (General Secretary Hockey J and K), G. S Bakshi (Secretary Hockey J and K), Tajinder Singh, Manmohan Singh, Ravinder Singh, Amarjeet Singh and all organising committee members were present in the press meet.
