Sandhi in Tehsil Gagwal- a forgotten village

Dear Editor,
Many times before, the deplorable condition of Sandhi village was brought to the notice of the concerned authorities but no heed has been paid. Now again through the columns of the newspapers it is brought to the notice of the concerned that Sandhi is a village of around 250 households, in Tehsil and block of Gagwal in Distt, Samba, and 4 kms away from National Highway of Jammu – Pathankot. While going through the village and interacting with the residents, it seems that its condition has not changed much since independence. During rainy season, village gets submerged in water in the absence of proper drainage and outlet for rainy water. Even after a lapse of more than 65 years of independence, village lacks the basic infrastructure like health care and education.
There are no lanes and by lanes. Village is in mess of dirt and filth. Sandhi village has no proper drinking water. One bore well system has been installed but with out electric motor and proper distribution pipes. Power supply is also erratic. Electric poles are either half broken or not there. In view of the digital campaign launched by our Prime Minister, villagers are not able to reap its benefits in the absence of any mobile tower, hence no communication.
Despite the so many programmes being launched by the Prime Minister Modi, it seems that nothing percolates down in this village. The concerned authorities please look into these problems so that villagers can heave a sigh of relief. Deputy Commissioner, Samba and concerned MLA is also requested to take up the issue on priority with the concerned authorities so that the sufferings of the residents of the village is mitigated.
