KATRA: Wrestler Sandeep of Khanna (Punjab) lifted 124th Annual Panthal Kesari Dangal title 2024 by defeating Wrestler Munish of Delhi in a neck to neck contest at village Panthal in District Reasi.
Sandeep was adjudged as the best Wrestler in the vishal Dangal, Dangal was organized by Shri Swami Nitya Nand Dangal Committee on the eve of Makar Sankranti.
The Winner of main bout Wrestler Sandeep was given a cash prize of Rs. 6,1000 in addition to “Gurj and Patta” while runner-up Wrestler was cash awarded with Rs. 50,000.
Deputy Commissioner Reasi Vishesh Paul Mahajan was the chief guest on the occasion who witnessed the Dangal and encouraged the youths who Participated. Former Joint Secretary J&K Sports Council and President J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association Shiv Kumar Sharma presided over the function.
SDM Katra Deepak Dubey, ASP Katra Vipan Chandern and DDC Chairman Panthal Rajinder Mengi were the guests of honour.
DSP Katra Surinder Singh Billoria, ACF, SMVDSB Vinay Khajuria, Tehsiuldar Katra Jatinder Singh, SHO Katra Nishant Gupta, Sher Singh Vice President J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association Varinder Badyal and Ex Sarpanch Karnail Singh were the special guests.
In the said Dangal forty one bouts were played and expenditure of Rs. 5,25,000 has been incurred for conduct of this one day long Dangal.
Second main bout was won by Wrestler Rashid of Domana Akhara Jammu who defeated Wrestler Jatinder of Harayana winner Wrestler Rashid was cash awarded with Rs. 41,000 while runner-up Wrestler Jatinder got Rs. 30,000.
The third bout was won by Nadeem of J&K Police of Doda who defeated Wrestler Wajid of District Jajjar of (Haryana). Winner Wrestler Nadeem was cash awarded with Rs. 18,000 while runer-up Wrestler Wajid got Rs. 13,000. 4th bout was won by Surjeet Singh of J&K Police of Reasi who defeated Wrestler Partik of Haryana winner Surjeet Singh was cash awarded with Rs. 12,000 while runner-up Wrestler Partik got Rs. 9,000. The proceedings of the Dangal were conducted by Naresh Kumar (Pappu Lakri), Welcome address was presented by Prittam Kumar Magotra. The vote of thanks was presented by Ex. Sarpanch Rajinder Kumar Thappa.
Members who helped for conduct of this Dangal included Prittam Kumar Magotra, Mukesh Khajuria, Rajinder Kumar Thappa (Ex. Sarpanch), Parshotam Kumar Khajuria (Bittu), Barjesh Khajuria, Madan Lal Sanmotra, Ved Parkash, Om Parkash Sanmotra, Parshotam Kumar Mengi.
The bouts were appreciated by Sat Paul Verma, Om Parkash Verma, Raj Singh and Sunny Sharma.
Other Results: Kharpu of Jammu beat Ranjeet Singh of J&K Police, Dillar Khan of J&K Police beat Ambrish of Delhi, Ajay Sharma of Udhampur beat Shivam of Delhi and Liakat of Jammu beat Madan Singh of Roun Domail Akhara.
Shiv Kumar Sharma thanked District Administration, Police Department, media persons and people who witnessed the Dangal. He also appreciated bouts and organizers and technical officials.
