Samoon reviews implementation of schemes

SRINAGAR: The Agriculture Production Commissioner Dr. Asgar Samoon reviewed the progress of implementation of various Centrally Sponsored Schemes in Kashmir Division at an officers meeting here the other day.
The meeting was informed that the Department is focusing on the transfer of technology from lab to the land by organising training/awareness camps for farmers, besides taking them for exposure visits within the State or Outside the State to enhance their knowledge about various farming practices
The meeting was told that the Agriculture Department is supplying high yielding varieties of Wheat, Oats, Oil Seeds and Peas to the farmers on subsidy rates to enhance the production of various Rabi crops in Kashmir Division.
While reviewing the implementation of National Mission on Saffron Project in Pulwama, Budgam and Srinagar districts, the Agriculture Production Commissioner expressed dismay over the slow progress in the installation of Sprinkler systems. He directed the concerned authority to ensure that all hurdles in the execution of Micro Irrigation Projects are removed.
He urged upon the officers to work in a mission mode to ensure that the benefits of various schemes percolate down to the grass root level.
