SAMBA: Samba Zone boys dominated in the inter-zonal competitions of district Samba held under the banner of Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS) at Kehli Mandi, here on Monday.
Samba boys bagged most of the three titles of kho-kho under-17 boys, kabaddi under-14 and under-17. In kho-kho under-17 final, Samba zone outplayed Purmandal zone by an innings and five points.
Meanwhile, in under-14 boys’ kabaddi final, Samba defeated Ramgarh zone by a margin of 28 points. Similarly, in under-17 kabaddi title clash, Samba trounced Vijaypur zone by 30 points.
However, in volleyball, Purmandal and Ramgarh zones excelled. In under-14 volleyball final, Purmandal beat Ghagwal zone in straight sets. The under-17 volleyball title clinched by Ramgarh zone, who beat Vijaypur zone by two sets to nil.
In the finals, SSP Samba, Joginder Singh was Chief Guest, who along with Chief Education Officer, Mangal Dev gave away winners and runners-up trophies.
District Youth Services and Sports Officer, Subash Chander Bhardwaj thanked the distinguished gathering and encouraged those winning teams for the upcoming inter-district competitions.
Prominent among those present were Rakesh Verma, BD Sharma, Vijay Singh Slathia, Pardeep Singh, Raghubir Singh (all ZPEOs), Dr Monika, Dr Sunil Dubey and incharge activity, Rekha Sambyal.
Today’s matches officiated by the technical penal comprising Anirudh Singh, Dildar Singh, Bhupinder Singh, Roopa Sambyal, Sandeep Singh, Purab Chander, Shashi Bala, Vinod Sharma, Rajinder Singh Chib, Kulbir Singh and Zorawar Singh Sambyal.
