Samba killing: Maha Sabha blocks NH, seeks arrest of Gujjars

SAMBA: Maha Sabha, an organisation of social Sabhas on Friday held at protest at Samba demanding compensation to family of Kamal Singh, who was murdered by Gujjar community and immediate arrest of culprits. The protestors also blocked National Highway for several hours.
Ascertaining tension, DDC Sheetal Nanda rushed to the spot and pacified the protesters by giving assurance on the issue.
While addressing the media, Sabha member said, “We have submitted a memorandum to Divisional Commissioner Jammu for taking cognisance of incidents involving murder of Kamal Singh Forest Guard at Village Khara Madana on 17th February 2016 by the members of Gujjar Community and Police-Gujjars’ clash near Sarore and NH Vijaypur on 22nd and 23rd February 2016 respectively.
Divulging on the gravity of these incidents involving communal tension and lawlessness, the Maha Sabha representative alleged that both civil and police administrations of District Samba utterly failed to implement the rule of law. Maha Sabha, however demanded Rs. 10 lakh compensation for the deceased forest guard and government job for his son besides stern legal action against the culprits of both these incidents. Saying that SHO Bari Brahmana Bharat Sharma was made scapegoat in the aforesaid incident, the Maha Sabha came in support of the said officer and demanded that he should be reinstated immediately. The Sabha also demanded that administration should initiate drive against encroachments to ensure that State land is vacated from the clutches of land grabbers and encroachers.
