SAMBA: The Deputy Commissioner Samba, Sheetal Nanda on Wednesday held an interactive meeting with Principals of all Govt Higher Secondary and High Schools in the district and held threadbare discussions for involving schools in boosting the Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM) and Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) campaigns in the district. The meeting was attended by ACD Samba, DPO Samba, DSWO Samba, CEO Samba, BDO’s and other officials.
The DC directed CEO Samba to encourage public speaking among female students with every female student be asked to speak on the topic ‘Main Kya Banungi’ in the morning assembly and in class. It was decided that movies and documentaries on women empowerment shall be shown in all the govt schools in a phase wise manner from December 7, onwards. She also directed CEO Samba to ensure all government employees/teachers have toilets in their households as per baseline survey available with Rural Development Department. She said that onus shall lie on these employees for constructing toilets and removing their names from the list of people not having toilets.
`The Deputy Commissioner asked teachers to interact with students and compile data regarding pupils without toilets at home. She said that these lists shall be treated as ready reference and sent to Rural Development Department which shall work out modalities for providing financial assistance to the deserving households. She directed Rural Development and Education departments to work in coordination and achieve results as per timelines.
