Salute and Tribute to Saichen Martyrs T20 Tourney Umar, Ashraf guide Police XI to 87 runs win

JAMMU: Brilliant batting from Umar Nabi and deadly spell from Mohd Ashraf on Thursday scripted a comfortable 87 runs win for Police XI against Boom Boom Cricket Club (BBCC) in the Salute and Tribute to Saichen Martyrs’ Twenty20 Cricket Tournament underway at Parade Ground, here.
Earlier, Umar played fine innings of 41 runs coming off just 17 deliveries and in turn Mohd Ashraf took three wickets for just two runs in his spell of four overs, including three maiden.
Batting first, Police XI made 231 runs for four wickets. Umar Nabi scored 41 while Ishtiaq Ahmed made unbeaten 23-ball 48 runs hitting two sixes and four boundaries.
Naresh too remained not out adding 10-ball 20 runs while Farooq Ahmed (33 off 25 balls, 6×4) and Manzoor Ilahi (37 off 25 balls, 5×4, 1×6) were other main contributed to the team’s total. For BBCC, Abdul Majeed, Athar Rashid, Ishfaq and Umar shared the wickets. In reply, BBCC could make only 144 runs in given 20 overs to lose the game by a big margin of 87 runs. Ubaid played superb innings of 72 runs off 46 balls including seven fours and five maximum.
Akhtar contributed 23 runs while Abdul Majeed and Uzar Ahmed added 13 runs each. For Police XI, besides Mohd Ashraf’s (4-3-2-3) deadly spell, Adit Ahmed, Shamsher, Manzoor and Umar Nabi took one wicket each.
For his all round performance, Umar Nabi was declared Man of the Match. Today’s match was conducted by Sant Singh and Sadiq Hussain as Umpires while Amarjeet was Scorer.
